The forerunner in Nordic beauty, Lumene, starts cooperation with Roima
Lumene is a company loved by Finnish women and the market leader in pure domestic cosmetics in Finland. The success story of the company began already in the 1970s, but Lumene has not got stuck in the past.
During the past few years, the Lumene brand has gone through a perfect makeover, as everything from its visual image to products were updated to correspond to today’s trends and needs. Now, it’s time to enhance the production methods, in the spirit of Continuous Improvement.
“Efficiency is one of our important metrics, and Continuous Improvement forms one of the cornerstones of our operations. Reducing interruptions and analyzing their causes forms one of our central goals, but in order to reach that goal, we need to have more data.
Through an OEE monitoring system, the collection of data and thus also development work and daily reporting will be easier. At the same time, we can diversify our operations. And it won’t do any harm that the system is also easy to use!”

Tapping into real-time data
Lumene is now embarking on a project to develop its production. The project involves the implementation of an Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) system that collects data on the efficiency and possible interruptions of production lines in real time – data that is valuable, for example, in daily management.
As their partner in this endeavor, Lumene chose Roima. “Boosting the European industry is Roima’s mission in life, and we are proud to have the chance to offer our expertise to a international brand like Lumene, too”, states Sampo Reivilä, Lead Consultant, Manufacturing Digitalization at Roima.
The development continues
For Lumene, enhancing its operations, collecting more relevant, up-to-date data and, hence, overall development are the starting point for the cooperation.

Lumene’s products are designed and most of them also manufactured in Europe. The company’s roots go back to the pure nature of northern Finland and its unique raw materials, the northern spring water and light, and the northern wellness rituals. Lumene’s sales, marketing, production and logistics employ over 300 people in Finland. On the global scale, the company has almost 500 employees. The company takes its name from the lake Lummenne in the municipality of Kuhmoinen in Centrail Finland. The name also means ’light’ in Latin – ”lumen”.
